The Autool BT260 is a circuit tester (power probe) for cars, vans, trucks, motorcycles and machinery. It is powered via the vehicle battery or the cigarette lighter and measures DC and AC voltage up to 65 V, resistance up to 200 kΩ, diode, continuity and polarity. With a single press, you apply positive or earth to the tip to drive components.
The 1.7-inch colour display with backlight shows the measured value; in AC mode it also shows minimum, maximum, frequency and duty cycle. The LED work lamp switches on automatically. In the event of overload or short circuit, it switches off and restarts automatically. With the 12-metre test lead, you can reach everywhere.

POINTS TO NOTE
Applications and functionality
The BT260 is intended for technicians and auto electricians who check wiring and components on passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, boats and machinery.
Measuring
- DC voltage: 0 to 65 V, resolution 0.1 V, accuracy ±0.2 V.
- AC voltage: 0 to 65 V with min/max, frequency and duty cycle.
- Resistance and diode: Up to 200 kΩ, plus continuity test.
- Polarity: Positive or earth shown on the screen and by the LED.
Activating and tracing
- Component activation: Power a radiator fan, relay, window motor or wiper directly.
- Poor earth: Locate a poor earth connection.
- Wire tracing: Trace a wire and locate breaks.
- Short circuit: In the event of overload, it switches off and restarts.
How to use it
- Connecting: Connect the tester to the battery or the cigarette lighter.
- Selecting mode: DC, AC, resistance or diode.
- Measuring: Touch the test point and read the display.
- Activating: Apply positive or earth to a component to test it.
- Earth cable: Use the auxiliary earth cable for components without their own earth.
Special features and capabilities
What makes the BT260 practical:
- Colour display: 1.7 inch with backlight.
- LED work lamp: Switches on automatically.
- Buzzer: Beeps when switched on.
- Multilingual: Including English, German, French, Spanish and Polish.

Measuring
- The voltage range in which the tester measures accurately. A wider range is useful for heavier vehicles.DC voltage measuring range
- 0 to 65 V, resolution 0.1 V, ±0.2 V
- The smallest voltage increment the tester can display. The smaller, the more precise the measurement.Voltage measuring resolution
- 0.1 V
- The resistance values the tester can measure, for instance of sensors or wires.Resistance measuring range
- 0 to 200 kΩ
- Whether the tester also measures AC voltage, in addition to DC voltage.AC voltage measurement
- Yes
Test functions
- The tester can supply current to components such as a motor or lamp, so you can see whether they work.Component activation
- Yes
- The tester helps locate the position of a short circuit or broken wire, saving considerable searching.Short circuit and wire break detection
